Le Défi McKeown

McKeòwn Cider is proud to present the 2nd edition of its multi-disciplinary competition – Le Défi McKeòwn. Various sports, trivia and social competitions will take place on Lake Simon, one of the SEPAQ’s beautiful sites. This festive and competitive environment will welcome 6-player teams comprising 3 men and 3 women.

REGISTRATION

Registration fees include:

  • The weekend competition for 6 participants
  • Unlimited McKeòwn cider all weekend (ending at 11:00 pm at night)
  • Méchoui dinner on Saturday
  • Access to Lake Simon’s beach
  • An additonal fee of 75$ per extra player (more than 6)
  • 450$ (+ tx) / register before June 30th

  • 500$ (+ tx) / register starting July 1st

**Breakfast and lunch are not included. We will, however, sell affordable snacks as well as hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill for lunch on Saturday and Sunday.

ACCOMMODATION

You may rent a cottage on the SEPAQ beach through us MAP or rent campgrounds or ready-to-camps through the SEPAQ site. For these last two options, visit the SEPAQ website and reserve your campground!

SPORTS

2 vs. 2 Spike Ball:

  • Duration: 20 mins
  • Number of participants: 2, rotation of players possible
  • Mix of participants: 2 women x 2 men on the field

4 vs. 4 Beach Volleyball:

  • Duration: 20 point match
  • Number of participants: 4, rotation of players possible
  • Mix of participants: 2 women x 2 men on the field

4 vs. 4 Waterpolo in the shallow end of Lake Simon

  • Duration: 20 point match
  • Number of participants: 4, rotation of players possible
  • Mix of participants: 2 women x 2 men on the water field

INTELLECTUAL
Budding Geniuses: Quiz where players have to press on a buzzer as quickly as possible to answer various trivia questions.

  • Duration: 20 mins
  • Number of participants: 4
  • Mix of players: team’s choice

SOCIAL

Know Your McKeòwn Cider: Your whole team will be tasting, while competing, our McKeòwn ciders.

Surprise social competition: A surprise social activitie will be annouced a couple weeks before the event. Stay tuned!!

NON-PARTICIPANTS
Those who want to attend the event and enjoy the unlimited McKeòwn cider and méchoui dinner on Saturday night can sign-up as non-participants at a cost of $75 per person from Friday night to Sunday afternoon.

SCHEDULE

For the Spike-Ball, Beach Volleyball, Water Polo and Budding Geniusescompetitions, the Teams will be split into groups of 4 teams and you will compete against the other teams in your division in each of the 4 matches. For the cider competition Know Your McKeòwn Cider as well as the Surprise social competition, you will be competing against all of the teams at the same time.

Friday, September 13

Saturday, September 14

  • 9 am – 1 pm: INTER-DIVISIONAL MATCHES

  • 3 pm – 4 pm: BREAK
  • 4 pm – 6 pm: DO YOU KNOW YOUR MCKEÒWN CIDER

Sunday, September 15

  • 9 am – 10 am: 1/8 FINALS
  • 10 am – 11 am: 1/4 FINALS
  • 11 am – 12 pm: SURPRISE SOCIAL EVENT
  • 12 PM – 1 pm: 1/2 FINALS
  • 1 pm – 2 pm: FINALS
  • 2 pm – 2:30 pm: PRIZE CEREMONY

FAQ

What happens if it rains?
Le McKeown will still be happening if it rains. The sporting events will still be held outdoors while the other competitions will be held in areas that are sheltered from the rain. Changes to the sporting events will only occur in case of thunderstorms.

Can a non-participant come support me on just one of the days?
Of course! Naturally, unregistered non-participants won’t have access to the unlimited cider and méchoui dinner, but they can definitely come support the participants.

I’m bringing my children. Can they still enjoy the on-site amenities?
Of course! They can enjoy the site amenities, but you’ll be responsible for keeping an eye on them.

Can we bring other alcoholic beverages?
Yes. We offer unlimited McKeòwn cider to all participants and registered non-participants, but you can also bring your own beverages.

Will transportation be available for participants?
No, we aren’t providing any kind of transportation for the weekend.

Can I bring my dog?
Please follow the SEPAQ’s rules in regard to domestic animals: https://www.sepaq.com/animaux/. Please note that the specific site of Le défi McKeòwn is an area where the SEPAQ does not allow dogs.

Do you offer refreshments to registered children and participating minors?
We’ll have unlimited McKeòwn Zero (alcohol-free) and water for all participants who prefer non-alcoholic refreshments.
