McKeown Competition

McKeown Cider is proud to present the first edition of it’s multi-discipline competition – Le McKeòwn. Various sports, trivia, art and social competitions will take place on Lake Simon, one of the SEPAQ’s beautiful sites. This festive and competitive environment will welcome 40 6-player teams comprising 3 men and 3 women. Three prizes will be awarded to the top three teams: 1st prize- $500 2nd prize – $350 3rd prize- $150.

REGISTRATION
Registration fees: $450-500 (plus applicable taxes per team of 6 people

**Breakfasts and lunches are not included. We will, however, sell affordable snacks as well as hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill for lunch on Saturday and Sunday.

ACCOMMODATION
Le McKeòwn gives you the option to stay in the cabins by the water and on the site. SEE LINK. To book your cabin, go to the team registration section below and select your cabin by its assigned number. Click on the SEPAQ website link to see cabin locations and number of beds. Cabin reservation is done through McKeown’s ticket office.

  • 2 6-person cabins: $450 tax included – Cabins 21 and 22
  • 15 5-person cabins: $400 tax included – Cabins 5 to 20
  • 15 4-person cabins: $350 tax included – Other numbers

SPORTS

4 vs. 4 Ultimate Beach Frisbee: 4 matches + playoffs if qualified.

4 vs. 4 Beach Volleyball: 4 matches + playoffs if qualified.

  • Duration: 11 point match
  • Number of participants: 4, rotation of players possible

2 vs. 2 Spike-Ball: 4 matches + playoffs if qualified.

  • Duration: 11 point match
  • Number of participants: 2, rotation of players possible
  • Mix of participants: 1 woman x 1 man on the field

TRIVIA
Budding Geniuses: Quiz where players have to press on a buzzer as quickly as possible to answer various trivia questions.

ARTISTIC
Make Your Own McKeòwn Ad: You will have to create and present a 30-second ad promoting McKeòwn’s cider using the tools placed at your disposal and your team’s creativity.

SOCIAL
Know Your McKeòwn Cider: You’ll be welcome Friday evening as of 8 pm for a tasting/contest featuring our various ciders.

  • Duration: 60 mins
  • Number of participants: 6
  • Mix of participants: 3 women x 3 men

Know Your Opponent: A few weeks before Le McKeòwn starts, each team will have to send a photo of all its members along with their names. Over the course of the weekend, your task will be to get to know as many other participants as possible and identify as many of them as you can on the team photos we’ll give you.

KIDS’ ZONE 4-12 YEARS
We give families the opportunity to leave their children in our Kids’ Zone for children aged 4-12. Children will be grouped by age and accompanied by competent supervisors who will take good care of them throughout the weekend. There will be many activities, and children will also be able to enjoy the slides, inflatable ball, beach, mini-putt, etc. We also have a few surprises for the older children. This service is $75 per child for the weekend and includes meals and activities. It will be offered all day Saturday and Sunday.

NON-PARTICIPANTS
Those who want to attend the event and enjoy the unlimited cider and méchoui supper on Saturday night can sign-up as non-participants at a cost of $75 per person from Friday night to Sunday afternoon.

SCHEDULE
For the Spike-Ball, Beach Volleyball, Beach Ultimate and Budding Geniuses contests, the 40 teams will be split into 8 groups of 5 teams and you’ll compete against the other teams in your division in each of the 4 matches. For the cider tasting, Know Your Opponent and Make Your Own McKeown Ad presentations, you’ll be competing against all the other teams.

Sunday, September 16

  • 9 – 10 am: “GET TO KNOW YOUR OPPONENT”

  • 11:30 am – 2 pm: SPIKE-BALL, VOLLEYBALL, ULTIMATE AND BUDDING GENIUSES FINALS

FAQ

What happens if it rains?
Le McKeown will still be happening if it rains. The sporting events will still be held outdoors while the other competitions will be held in areas that are sheltered from the rain. Changes to the sporting events will only occur in case of thunderstorms.

Can a non-participant come support me on just one of the days?
Of course! Naturally, unregistered non-participants won’t have access to the unlimited cider and méchoui supper, but they can definitely come support the participants.

I’m bringing my children but not signing them up for the Kids’ Zone. Can they still enjoy the on-site amenities?
Of course! They can enjoy the site amenities, but you’ll be responsible for keeping an eye on them.

Can we bring other alcoholic beverages?
Yes. We offer unlimited cider to all participants and registered non-participants, but you can also bring your own beverages.

Will special transportation be available for participants?
No, we aren’t providing any kind of transportation for the weekend.

Can I bring my dog?

Do you offer refreshments to registered children and participating minors?
We’ll have unlimited McKeown Zero (alcohol-free), fresh apple juice and water for all participants who prefer non-alcoholic refreshments.
